This piece is a red clay sculpture with an oval base. It is coil-built, burnished with a river stone and fired unglazed. The horned shape is a nod to the crescent moon and references horn iconographies staying constant as Nubia transitioned from an animist spirituality, to Christianity, and eventually Islam.
