
This piece is inspired by Shun Kumagai's treks through pilgrimage sites on Shikoku Island. He began creating these figures that invite viewers to bring their hands together in prayer. As his mastery of wax moulding deepened, the forms became more finely articulated. Simply titled Statue, Shun intentionally refrains from assigning a specific religion or fixed meaning to this serene work. I
