This box is made of cowhide reinforced with black lacquer. "The folds serve both a practical and an aesthetic purpose," Yoko Ichikawa explains. “Natural animal hide never has an even surface: there are parts that are thinner, more fragile. By folding the surface, the entire structure is reinforced, while adding depth to the texture.”
