Plates with cut corners

This traditional form is inspired by urushi lacquered plates of Negoro style that Hitoshi Morimoto admires. Its delicate silhouette is achieved through slab-building with a handmade mould, also crafted by Hitoshi himself. The sharp finish is made possible by yakishime, a high-temperature, unglazed firing technique.
