The Athena sword reflects elements of the goddess as the patron of wisdom, warfare and artisanal crafts. The architectural principle of entasis inspired the blade’s gentle curvature and the scabbard’s subtle waist. Fine silver and 24 carat gold are inlaid and overlayed onto the textured steel pommel and guard of the hilt. Fine silver wire is wrapped over the grip that is mounted with sterling silver ferrules. The blade is forged in pattern-welded steel for a chatoyance effect. The sword resides in the Met in New York.
