A stroll at Bikini beach
This is a scene depicting a palm tree on a beach accompanied by a rusted barrel of nuclear waste. Made for the exhibition called Sleeper in Metropolis, the sculpture refers to the colonial history of Oceania and specifically the nuclear weapon testing that was carried out at the Bikini Atoll in the wake of World War II. Sculpted, then cast in stoneware, the piece was painted with under-glaze.
