Ryumon is the name of a rocky mountain located near Eijiro Tokunaga’s studio. This work was inspired by the scenery of melting snow flowing down the rocky mountain. The glaze on the surface of the bowl is intricately mixed, and the wavering trails of white and blue are just like melting snow in spring. A straw ash glaze is applied to the rough white clay, followed by a random ash glaze to produce the melting effect. Then, iron and feldspar glazes are applied to the open areas in an intermittent manner before a thin ash glaze is finally applied over the entire surface.
