This brooch is made from wood in varying levels of hardness. Pine wood is used for the oval frame, alluding to a portrait. A second wood is used in the centre to symbolise a landscape or self-portrait, and a third serves as the base that supports the first two, housing the brooch mechanism. The back is lined with calfskin, adding a touch of softness to the reverse side.
