Aja and Oya

These sculptures are each composed of two thrown shapes assembled together to create a small totem-like form. Hand modelled hoops made from a slab are attached in different areas. The pieces are decorated by applying a layer of ebony slip which is then etched, the sgraffito technique. The inside is glazed with a transparent matte glaze.
