The round central vase is thrown on the wheel. Its handles which are oval on the outside and round on the inside are hand modelled from a slab and attached near the lip of the vase. Two large removable hoops hang through the handles. The piece is decorated by applying a layer of ebony slip which is then etched. This is called the sgraffito technique. The inside is glazed with a transparent matte glaze.
