This installation honours the women who use thread to mend moments of misfortunes, prepare their daughters' trousseaux for successful marriages, and conceal life's tears. It explores the delicate line between repair and adornment, connecting the opposing emotions of suffering and joy. The exhibition illustrates that the thin line between joyful acquisition of freedom and its loss is just a thread away. A thick red tubular wool thread is woven at intervals into a loosely woven fabric, teetering on the edge of tearing. The weaving, burdened by the heavy wool, creates a visual illusion of fragility.
Homo Faber Finds is a new service aiming to inspire admirers of craft to connect and collaborate with exceptional artisans.
