Gas Giant #1
This wheel thrown circular disc of clay has deep rolled-outward edges and a wide indented centre, lower than the rim. It can be used functionally as a platter on a flat horizontal surface or hung vertically, as photograph. The decoration is a fluid layer of cream coloured liquid clay slip with finger-mark wavy horizontal lines drawn through the wet surface to reveal an indigo coloured background with break-through areas of exposed terracotta-red clay. The surface is finished in semi-gloss transparent glaze.
