This lidded box is made from a solid block of stoneware clay. The structured surface is achieved by striking the block with a batten. Each strike leaves a mark in the clay. Later on, the lid is separated and the interior of the box is hollowed out using various knives and scrapers. The piece is glazed with a brown-green glaze on the outside and a light green glaze on the inside and fired in a gas kiln at 1280°C.
