This stoneware oval vase by Penélope Vallejo is made on a potter's wheel. The dark colour of its surface is achieved with a mixture of oxides. Covered in several layers of porcelain of different consistencies and thickness, this process gives it its white and pure colour. It is after the final firing that the porcelain shrinks over the dark and rigid body, generating a skin of fragile and delicate appearance, but strong and vitrified.
