Crystalline Glazed Vase (orange and blue)

The creation of this blue and orange stoneware vase involved various manufacturing steps and specific techniques. The vase is slip cast and altered with a crystalline glaze, composed of blue crystals on an orange background. The piece was fired at 1285°C with a prolonged cooling time to let the crystals grow. It was then re-fired at 750°C to change the colour of the background, following the glass blowing technique referred to as 'striking'.
