Crystalline Glazed Vase (grey and blue)
This stoneware vase was slip cast with a blue crystal glaze on a light blue and grey background. Crystalline glazes are specialty glazes wherein crystals form and grow inside the glaze during cooling. This process requires special glaze formulas and a complex and lengthy firing cycle that can last over 20 hours. This stoneware vase was fired at 1285°C with prolonged cooling to allow the crystals to grow.
