This child's bed was designed and created by Thomas Schmitter. Traditional wood joints were used to assemble the bed, finished with hand painted details and a protective wax coating. Wood, as an organic material, changes its volume even after centuries. The classic techniques of wood joints take this physical behaviour into account by interlocking the individual parts so that they can move against each other without damage.
