Paper sculptor Kuniko Maeda based in the UK & Japanese fellow Momoka Ienaga
Japanese paper sculptor Kuniko moved to London in 2011, graduating with an MA from Chelsea College of Arts. In her workshop, she creates sculptural 3D artworks often made from Kakishibu paper, which is durable, waterproof and unique to Japan. She combines traditional Japanese craft techniques with digital technology and is strongly influenced by Japanese philosophy.
Momoka has a master’s from Kanazawa College of Art, Japan, where she focused her studies on Kaga-nui, a traditional embroidery technique, dyeing and weaving. She has also studied ceramics, lacquer and metalwork, which has given her a new vision for her chosen craft.
