Living between the UK and Poland, blacksmith Tom Regula invites you on a weekend getaway to a picturesque village in the Bieszczady Mountains in Poland, where you will learn to forge steel. You will be accommodated at his 100-year-old renovated farmhouse. You will learn to work with ancient steel and experience living in the traditional home of the Lemka Highlanders. On day one, you will have lunch in the farmhouse or the garden gazebo and get acquainted with the history of ancient Polish steel called “dziwer” as well as safety measures at the forge. On the second day, you will see a demonstration of forging and try it yourself during two 3-hour knife forging sessions before and after lunch. On the final day, you will finish your knife and take it home. During your stay, you can try other activities, such as horseback riding along forest trails, mushroom picking and fly fishing for additional fees. The course price includes accommodation and meals.
