Renzo Buttazzo is the Master of Pietra Leccese, an opal-colored limestone which is the absolute protagonist of the countless baroque masterpieces of the Salento region. Buttazzo’s smooth and soft contemporary sculptures express the shapes of nature blending poetry and design, and represent a proper revolution in the way Pietra Leccese has been worked for centuries. During the one-day workshop, Renzo Buttazzo offers all participants the opportunity to learn the traditional techniques and to practice on his own experimentations, which made him internationally renowned. Having the possibility to work on a personal block of stone, each participant can use it as an outlet for their creativity, in a meditative and serene atmosphere.

The six-day experience organized by Buttazzo in his atelier is a creative, open workshop where he does not just teach the techniques of stone cutting – both the traditional ones and his own – but he also helps participants to know and understand the “breath of the stone”, to say it with his own words.
