The art of typography in Turin

with Alberto Tallone Editore

Visit an historic typography atelier

Visiting Tallone Editore means accessing one of the oldest and most prestigious typographic studios in the world, an exceptional heritage that spans 11 generations and several relocations (Dijon, Paris, Châtenay-Malabry and Alpignano). The collections on display include original foundry types and printing presses that were used by Alberto Tallone and his Master Maurice Darantière to print their masterpieces, such as the first edition of James Joyce’s Ulysses, printed in 1922. The guided tour includes a visit of the Literary Archive, which houses handwritten letters by 20th-century writers, artists and heads of states, a visit of the Archive of Styles® and to the park, where the oldest locomotive in Italy is housed among centuries-old trees.
