Rediscovering glass sign writing

Czech artist Daniel Plavecký practises traditional signwriting and glass gilding, combining hand painted lettering with real gold leaf to create decorative glass signs. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Daniel will create a hand painted storefront sign on a glass panel, revealing each stage of the process. From preparing the surface and applying gold leaf to reverse painting, back-up painting and finishing touches, visitors will discover firsthand this comprehensive craft.
