Make a copper clock

With Bryony Knox

In this ideal introduction to metalworking techniques, silversmith Bryony Knox will explain how to design and make a freestanding clock using techniques popular in the Arts & Crafts movement such as riveting, piercing and the ancient art of chasing and repoussé, where sheet metal is formed and embossed using small steel tools while held in pine pitch. Participants will make a slightly smaller version of the Acorn Clock, which Bryony Knox made on BBC2's The Victorian House of Arts and Crafts. The course runs from 10am to 4pm each day. Templates will be provided with room to personalise your design. Materials, a quartz clock mechanism, and use of tools are included in the cost, as are tea, coffee and pastries.
