Learn the basics of kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold, with Chiara Lorenzetti, restorer and traditional kintsugi artist. The workshop is composed of two parts. The theoretical one will focus on the history of kintsugi, its origin and evolution. It will also touch on the basics of Japanese ceramics and the traditional tea ceremony, which is strictly linked to kintsugi itself. In the practical part, students will try the technique, experimenting with the modern version of it where epoxy resin and glitter are used instead of urushi lacquer and glitter. The course takes place in Chiara Lorenzetti’s workshop, but it can be organised anywhere else, upon request.
