Individual clay throwing lessons in Kaunas

with Deividas Jotautis

Learn to operate the potter's wheel

A traditional ceramic dish such as a plate, bowl or cup can be sculpted by hand, but the object must be thrown to get a regular shape. Operating the wheel is not so easy. Under the guidance of Deividas Jotautis, a ceramicist with 30 years of experience and passionate love for his craft, in this workshop you will learn how to prepare the clay for throwing, get closer to the secrets of throwing, and try your hand at operating the wheel. You can try out an ancient foot-powered wheel before moving on to a modern electric one and feel the difference. During the workshop, you can create an object, which is then fired, glazed and can be sent to you for an additional fee. If you wish, you can arrange a second session with the artisan to decorate your own creation with different coloured engobes.
