Piet Hein Eek is best known for transforming inexpensive scrap wood into furniture using his labo-rious woodcraft since the 1990s, thereby reshaping our usual perception of the intrinsic value of materials and highlighting the importance of craft. His trailblazing, sustainable vision has contributed greatly to his success, allowing him to expand his atelier in 2010, morphing the old Philips factory in Eindhoven into a creative hub, equipped with a production workshop, a shop, a showroom, an art gallery, an event space and a restaurant. On this tour, Piet Hein Eek will personally guide you through his sanctum of creativity, showing how his vision, his work, and his hub started from scratch, both literally and metaphorically.
