From paper to produce: hyperreal fruits in the making

Egyptian artist Abdelnasser Ibrahim transforms simple materials such as paper and glue into hyperrealistic fruits and flowers, by meticulously cutting, folding and layering paper to recreate natural forms and textures. During the live demonstration at Homo Faber 2026, Abdelnasser will create fruits such as tangerines and lemons from start to finish using the papier mâché technique. He will shape their cores from toilet paper and glue, recreate the texture of their skin with crêpe paper and acylic colour, and craft leaves, stems and blossoms, offering an up-close view of how humble materials can take on a remarkably lifelike appearance.
