One-to-one frame weaving workshop in Oxford

with Cassandra Sabo | Oxford, United Kingdom

Learn the basics of weaving

Working with a frame loom, in this course, students will learn the basics of weaving and create a wall-hanging. At the Oxford Weaving Studio, Cassandra Sabo sets up the first warp and will teach basic, contemporary tapestry weaving and classic hand-weaving techniques including plain weave, soumak, rya knots, rya loops, twills and hop sack. The students will then experiment with a variety of yarns and materials from the Yarn Starter Pack in their chosen colour palette. Cassandra will demonstrate how to tidy up loose ends, insert the wooding hanging rod and remove the wall-hanging from the loom. The workshop includes 4 hours of tuition, a rainbow loom and tool set, a small yarn starter pack, a pack of hanging rods and a 24-page introduction to weaving booklet.
