Discover how an artist’s book comes into being

with ColophonArte

From start to finish: the making of an artistic book

ColophonArte welcomes visitors interested in discovering the different stages of making an artist’s book, which is born from the close collaboration between artists, writers and craftspeople. Participants will be introduced to the different types of cotton paper from Amalfi, Sicily and other places. They will then witness how a text is first composed with movable lead type and then transferred onto paper with an original 1915 printing press. Finally, the printed pages are prepared for binding, which takes place in the nearby bookbinder’s workshop. At the end of the tour, visitors will have the opportunity to admire several finished artist's books.
