Ox horn is a fascinating material known for its veins, varied colours, and diverse properties that make it suitable for crafting everyday objects such as spoons, combs, and jewellery. In this beginner-designed course, Juan Hernan Betancourt will teach you the techniques of carving, polishing, and finishing an ox horn object. The course starts with a tour of the workshop to learn about the history and the material in all its different states. Through practical exercises and demonstrations, you will create a piece from start to finish with the guidance of Juan. The idea is for you to create an object that can serve a purpose, such as a cup, earrings, pendant, talisman, brooch, pin, or keychain. Materials, tools, supplies, silk threads for pendants, findings for brooches and keychains are included in the experience price. Custom courses are also available if you wish to delve deeper into this craft. Contact the artist for more information.
