Launching the cement tile in Bulgaria
Ornamento blends ancient traditions with contemporary design in its unique handmade cement tile manufacturing process. Each tile is the result of a combination of research, experimentation, learning, technology, and passion. Founded in 2016 in the village of Boshulya by Dimitar Venchev, Ornamento revitalised a traditional tile-making technique dating back over 150 years. Using natural pigments, high-quality cement, marble powder, and marble, Dimitar set out to create beautiful tiles in timeless styles. A self-taught artisan, Dimitar's journey into tile production began with an inspired gamble to pioneer tile making with a specific technique in the country. Challenges arose as he worked to perfect the craft, incorporating machinery and matrices while training other artisans.
Over time, Dimitar engaged with international specialists, fostering an exchange of ideas and expertise. Today, Ornamento stands as the sole Bulgarian manufacturer producing handcrafted tiles on such a large scale. The manufacturer offers over 400 tile models in over 40 colours. The company's reach extends beyond Bulgaria, with projects in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Greece, and Romania.
