With a dream of producing highly efficient bicycles, Luciano Passoni founded his family-owned company in the late 1980s. Three years after its establishment, Passoni's advanced frames were able to secure victories across several Grand Tours stages – Giro, Tour and Vuelta. In the following years, the atelier's production became a benchmark in the cycling world. This led Passoni to expand its mission, relying on an exceptionally specialised team of technicians and craftspeople. It is known for taking care of every stage of the production process, from design to finishing and polishing.
The year 1989 marked a turning point in Passoni's history, as it showcased its first titanium frame weighing only 1200 grams at the EICMA international riding fest. The frame went through many name changes – from Top to Top Force and Top Evolution, before finally landing into its current name, the Titanio frame. Since the mid-1990s, the atelier has built a worldwide reputation for creating unique custom bike frames in carbon-fibre, steel and titanium. Passoni, located in Vimercate near Milan, is one of the last examples of true European-based bicycle manufacturers.
