Japanese-Ukrainian fusion ceramics
Kyiv-based Makhno Studio was founded by Serhii Makhno as a wing of his celebrated architectural studio to support their design projects with handcrafted ceramic objects. Today it is a fully-fledged atelier with a superb selection of inspired works sporting the trademark Japanese-Ukrainian wabi-sabi aesthetic, a combination only a talented artist such as Serhii Makhno could achieve. He is a tireless promoter of this concept, on a mission to make it popular around the world.
Being a satellite of an architectural studio means great diversity in objects. The atelier creates ceramic lamps, vases, standalone pieces, as well as furniture. One of the most charming and beloved products of Makhno Studio is undoubtedly a series of art toys featuring cute ceramic figures of fantastic creatures of different size and colours. Some of them interpret the traditional Ukrainian folklore themes in a phantasmagoric way.
