The savoir-faire behind French contemporary design

Kostia Art & Design Studio was founded in 2012 by Constantin Laan, an artist-designer who tells a story with each piece of furniture he creates. He uses various materials including bronze, wood and lacquer, and the result is an object that blurs the line between furniture and art. His atelier brings together seven highly skilled craftspeople to create timeless pieces. Each object is a result of deep research into materials and colours, enriched by experimentation in modelling, patinas and textured sculpture.

In February 2025, Kostia launched its new gallery designed as a showroom, which opens the doors to a previously confidential world. The gallery features furniture art pieces, wood panelling, suspended drapes and objects inspired by traditional decorative art. The studio collaborates on exclusive projects with passionate collectors. Some of the creations have been acquired by the Mobilier National. Labelled made in Paris, Kostia was exhibited at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin during the 2018 and 2025 European Artistic Crafts Days, JEMA. The studio takes part in major events such as the Collectible design fair in Brussels with Galerie Scène Ouverte, Art Paris Art Fair with Ideat magazine, and PAD London with Galerie Dutko.
