A COMBINATION OF ENGINEERING AND CRAFTSMANSHIP

IWC Schaffhausen was founded in 1868 by the American watchmaker and engineer Florentine Ariosto Jones with the idea of combining Swiss craftsmanship with advanced manufacturing methods from his homeland. As engineer of watchmaking, IWC is the choice for ambitious individuals with an appreciation of mechanics, a sense of style and a taste for adventure. The Maison combines pure design and advanced engineering to create watches of understated confidence.

For Homo Faber 2026, IWC Schaffhausen collaborated with Laurin Schaub. The renowned Swiss ceramic artist created two moon jars for the installation An Island of Light. For these porcelain vessels, Schaub employed the Japanese Nerikomi layering technique, in which differently colored clays are joined to form a patterned surface. The moon jars are finished with a luminous glaze containing Super-LumiNova® photoluminescent pigments, inspired by IWC Schaffhausen’s proprietary Ceralume®.
