Gigi Burris Millinery was launched by Gigi Burris in New York in 2013. She first discovered her passion for hat making during a study abroad programme in Paris, which led her to further her studies at the Parsons School of Design. As a recipient of the 2014 Vogue Fashion Fund, Gigi now works with a dedicated team of six craftswomen. Together, they produce traditionally crafted and locally made pieces ranging from hats and masks to bridal work and hair accessories. "I describe our aesthetic as a modern, American moment in millinery," Gigi explains.

Fine art and nature are recurring references in Gigi Burris Millinery's pieces, and flowers and feathers are among the atelier's favourite materials. In addition to four annual collections, the artisans work on high-end custom commissions for the Kentucky Derby, Royal Ascot, bridal and masquerade events. The atelier also works with celebrities and athletes including Rihanna and Venus Williams. In 2022, Gigi co-founded Closely Crafted, a non-profit dedicated to preserving and sustaining craft in the American fashion industry.
