A Venetian dialogue in glass
Giberto Venezia was founded in 2005 by Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga, a Venetian designer whose sensibility was shaped by a childhood spent among the Tiepolo frescoes of Palazzo Papadopoli. His imagination steeped from an early age in beauty and refinement, he turned a passion for beautiful objects into a practice devoted to reinterpreting Venetian tradition through the medium of glass. Each creation begins as a watercolour sketch drawn on tracing paper. He then begins a dialogue with the master glassmakers of Murano, whose furnaces across the island have preserved age-old blowing techniques to bring his designs to life.
The atelier’s glassware, jugs, vases and mirrors are all blown and finished by hand in these historic workshops. Engraving is a distinctive specialisation of the atelier: glasses, press-papiers and vases can be incised with coats-of-arms, flowers or entire messages, turning each object into an enduring conversation. In 2024, Giberto Venezia opened its boutique on Venice’s iconic Rialto Bridge, anchoring its work at the city’s historic heart.
