There is a sign hanging in the workshop of Enrique Castellanos Luque that says "Nothing is perfect, but we try to make it as perfect as possible." This is what the concept of well-made means to him, and what has become his mission through his craft, embodying his approach to his work. Following an academic education in Fine Arts, Enrique discovered gilding during his post-graduate studies, and pursued this craft as a career, combined with his acquired restoration and conservation skills. He opened his workshop in 1999. In both gilding and restoration, Enrique uses centuries-old traditional techniques, respecting the original work of the carver, enhancing, enriching, chiseling when necessary. His body of work in both religious and civil pieces requires attention to detail and deep knowledge of the aesthetic of each item.
