This is a cartela, or decorative element, that is part of Our Lady of the Star float, the patron saint of the town of El Garrobo (Seville). Carved in wood in 1920, it was restored using fine water-based gold. The central oval is painted with allegories of the Virgin, using the egg tempera technique.
