A fluid dialogue between clay and paint
- Travel and nature inspire Edi's creative artworks
- She blends hand sculpting and painting to make her pieces
- Her studio is both her workshop and her gallery space
Born in the medieval village of Castiglion Fiorentino in Italy’s famous Tuscany region, Edi Magi has always been drawn to the arts. Her creative journey began with painting but found its true expression in clay. Travel plays a fundamental role in her work, exposing her to diverse artistic traditions, colours, and landscapes that fuel her imagination. Through her works, Edi aims to capture the textures and movement of nature, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. Through constant experimentation, she pushes clay to its structural limits, by making pieces with fragile edges, assembled parts, painting and colourful glazes.

INTERVIEW
Nature, and especially oceans, deserts, and wild landscapes, deeply influence my work. The fluidity of water, the shifting of sand dunes, and the raw beauty of untamed terrain guide the forms I create in clay.
Understanding traditional techniques is essential, as they provide a foundation for creativity. I respect the skills of past masters, but curiosity drives me to experiment, pushing materials to their limits to create fresh, nature-inspired pieces in new ways.
Passing my work from my hands into those of others fills me with gratitude. I hope my pieces offer positive emotions and create personal connections, as there is always a bond formed between maker and collector.
Travel is a constant source of inspiration. Experiencing different cultures and landscapes expands my creative perspective, allowing me to incorporate diverse artistic influences into my ceramic work.
