Belmar was founded in 1975 by Khalid Benyassef, in the winding alleys of Fez, where the scent of tanning pits lingers in the air. The workshop earned quiet acclaim for its refined leatherwork and precision of hand. Since the mid-1970s, men and women of all ages have been shaping leather in a silent choreography at the atelier. Each gesture, from cutting to assembling and stitching, is passed down with reverence, preserving a lineage of craft.

With materials sourced from certified tanneries, and an ethos grounded in responsibility, Belmar blends heritage with a contemporary spirit. Its pieces, some bespoke, others made for dignitaries, reflect both tradition and invention. In 2002, the atelier received Morocco’s Export Trophy, a quiet recognition of its enduring artistry. Belmar, short for Belle Maroquinerie, is a name that reflects an ideal of sincere, understated elegance in the world of leatherwork.
