Local wood, creative boldness and a unique team

Andreas Mayr Kondrak is a woodworking workshop specialising in the creation of contemporary design furniture and furnishings. The team consists of five self-taught craftsmen with varied and unusual professional backgrounds: there is an electrician, an engineer, a blacksmith, a tailor and a financier, all of whom share a love for furniture making and woodcraft. For Andreas and Luigi, the owners of the company, the diversity within the team is what characterises and makes their products unique: "We influence each other and never stop learning from each other." In addition to the workshop in Ortisei, Andreas Mayr Kondrak has a showroom in the historic centre of Ortisei, where new creations are presented to an international audience.

Andreas Mayr Kondrak's production is strongly influenced by their natural surroundings, and 85% of the wood used is native to South Tyrol. To pay homage to the Dolomites for their contribution, the atelier ethically employs the resources that the mountains offer them. They use almost exclusively wood from trees that are already dead, diseased or in need of felling, to avoid waste and unnecessary sacrifice. The working techniques used are traditional, but the aesthetics of the objects are modern, achieved by combining wood with other materials such as metal, leather, resin, and others.
