Iñigo Calleja founded his woodworking atelier Amber Craft & Design in Cádiz in 2015. Ever since, he has had a clear vision of what the atelier is about – a creative hub where design and making meet through state-of-the art techniques and unique pieces of wood. Iñigo and his team work with reclaimed wood, handpicked from the most diverse sources and places. The quest for wood is the essence of their pieces' research and design. Through their pieces, they reveal hidden features in the material, such as shades of colour and unexpected textures.
What others regard as imperfection is seen as an asset for the Amber Craft & Design team. They take pride in distinguishing themselves from industrial production that uses standard wood planks. Instead, they create handmade objects that tell stories and stand the test of time – their wood is mixed with stone, glass and textiles. The making process involves inventive techniques to assemble irregular pieces of wood, in a endless problem-solving challenge. The team makes both one-of-a-kind pieces and limited-edition collections, and collaborates with interior design firms and architects worldwide.
