  • She develops her own complex techniques

Amandine Mangenot is a self-taught contemporary artist who works predominantly with glass. She uses a variety of techniques and materials, including glass and metal engravings, natural pigments, resin and gold or silver leaf to imbue her works with depth, texture and changing light. "I find inspiration in collaborating with clients and architects to design custom installations that add character and visual interest to high-end functional spaces," Amandine says. She is a member of the national organisation Ateliers d’Art de France, and enlisted in the official directory of artisans in the Grand Est region. Since 2020, Amandine has been working from her studio in a renovated barn in a village in Moselle in northeastern France.

What unique characteristics define your style?
Light and texture. I work with various materials, but I do not like smooth surfaces. I use various techniques to achieve texture, contrast and shadows that play with light and give my works nuance and life.
How did you come to choose glass as your preferred medium?
The region where I work has been known for glass making since the 18th century. Moselle is still a major producer of flat glass in France, so I began collaborating with specialised companies to bring contemporary artistic innovation to this tradition.
Where do you find inspiration?
I get my inspiration from architectural sites and clients. By visiting their spaces, understanding their visions and learning what materials and colours they seek, I design custom features that enhance and expand that look.
How do you see the future of glass sculpting?
I hope bespoke glass creations endure in the long term because they add richness and value to architectural designs. I am proud to be part of a diverse array of artists in France – no two of us are the same, and the pieces we create are priceless.
