@Sandrine TorredemerLe rocher paradisiaque
Fabric, Thread
This tapestry by Sandrine Torredemer was created from recycled fabrics, which were stitched, embroidered and layered to depict a swimming pool on the seashore. The composition incorporates organza ribbons to evoke the movement and translucency of water. Portraying the Eden Roc Hotel in Cap d’Antibes, based on the celebrated photograph by Slim Aarons, the work seeks a rupture between the traditionally domestic medium of embroidery and a contemporary, lively subject.
