This side table was created during Homo Faber Fellowship 2025/26 by straw marquetry maker Kim Jordan based in the UK, and French fellow Sandra Pinto. It was crafted in straw marquetry, applied to a sculpted core, with elements of hand-blown glass and satin-finished aluminium added to the surface. Playing with the natural brilliance of straw, the work evokes a beach on a stormy day. The patterns, inspired by ripples left in the sand by retreating waves, recall the shimmer of a wet shoreline.
