Kinga & Riel: Textile scultping

Textile sculptor Kinga Földi based in Hungary & Japanese fellow Riel Suzuki
Budapest-based textile sculptor Kinga was a dress and costume designer before turning to textile sculpture. Her distinctive pin-tuck technique (a centuries-old decorative stitching method) transforms single pieces of silk into complex, three-dimensional forms inspired by nature, Hungarian folk art and the dialogue between maker and material.
Riel graduated from Shizuoka University of Art and Culture, and trained in traditional Japanese resist-dyeing techniques, including katazome, tsutsugaki and yuzen. Reinterpreting these methods, Riel creates dyed textiles that explore impermanence, time and the subtle sensations that flow between nature and human perception.
