Marta Ramada Leite left a fast-paced marketing career for a slower, more intentional way of creating. Self-taught, she makes small and large-scale suspended textile sculptures inspired by Karolina Merska’s book Pajaki, about the Polish women who traditionally handcrafted straw-and-paper hanging ornaments for celebrations. “I was deeply moved by the beauty, lightness and symbolic richness of this traditional Polish folk art,” says Marta. Rooted in Portugal, her work aims to reflect its light, landscapes and material heritage through carefully selected textile materials, such as repurposed yarn sourced from Portuguese tapestry factories, regenerated ECONYL® yarn, and flame retardant yarn designed for hospitality and interior projects. Marta's poetic sculptural language is increasingly sought after by interior designers and architects seeking to adorn spaces with textile design features bringing colour and rhythm.
