Designing a more meaningful life

Working in design since 2010, designer and interiors architect Margaux Keller has noticed how production has changed, and in particular how it has speeded up. She designs furniture and interiors objects that are produced by local manufacturers with exceptional expertise as a counterpoint to mass production. “My goal is to foster a lasting bond with our belongings, encouraging us to treasure and hand them down. I believe in preserving exceptional craftsmanship through poetic, one-of-a-kind creations,” she says. Margaux’s pieces include curvaceously carved desks, wicker lampshades, whimsical tableware and playful textiles, all made in France by ateliers with a long heritage.

A key concern of Margaux’s practice is reinterpreting design through a more thoughtful and responsible lens, by paying closer attention to where and how objects are made. For Homo Faber 2026, she presents Lili, a sculptural piece of collectible design. This personified totem stands as a celebration of natural wicker, featuring a striking crown of handwoven corollas, and is the result of 50 hours of expert hand weaving. The piece is created using ancestral basketry techniques combined with a modern form and is designed as a piece of interior art to feature in a room or outdoor terrace. Crafted from wicker grown in central France, it embodies a connection to both the land and traditional artistry.
