Lara Reisigl Domeneghetti is an Italian woodcarver, gilder and mentor based in Gjøvik, Norway. “I am trained in sculpture and decorative arts across Italy and the UK, which allows me to combine deep historical knowledge with contemporary craftsmanship,” she says. Lara works from a small farm-based studio where traditional craftsmanship is closely connected to rural life, landscape and animal stewardship. Inspired by principles found in natural horsemanship, Lara develops mentorship programmes that encourage students to engage with craft as a lived and embodied practice. “My teaching is highly tailored to the needs of each student, and I often deliver bespoke programmes in collaboration with museums, educational institutions and cultural organisations,” she says. Her practice spans historical reconstruction, restoration and bespoke commissions in wood, gilding and painting. Lara collaborates with museums internationally and has taught in Norway, Saudi Arabia and the USA.
